Project title: Improvement of the analysis of Ginkgo constituents

This is the longest running project within the Natural Products Chemistry Group. Ginkgo biloba belongs to the most sold medicinal plants in the world and its quality control remains a topic of intense interest. Especially for the analysis of the terpene trilactones (ginkgolides and bilobalide) and the unwanted potentially allergenic alkylphenols there is still scope for improvement, i.e. the development of faster, more reproducible, more widely applicable and more sensitive methods are desirable. Work on this is on-going.
