The Biocatalysis Research Group, led by dr. Maurice C.R. Franssen (Personal page), focusses on the application of enzymes and microbial cells as selective, environmentally friendly catalysts in organic synthesis. Another important topic is the isolation and characterisation of enzymes that are involved in the biosynthesis of sesquiterpenoids in plants.
